PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN MATERIAL SENG (Zn) PADA ALUMINIUM SKRAP TERHADAP KEKERASAN DAN IMPACT SETELAH PERLAKUAN PANAS
This study aims to determine the effect of adding zinc (Zn) material on scrap aluminum to impact toughness and hardness value on scrap aluminum.
In this study the Zinc material (Zn) is used as an additional material of aluminum scrap with weight percentage of Al 100% + Zn 0%, Al 95%, + Zn 5%, Al 94.5% + Zn 5.5% and Al 94% + 6% Zn. The standard material is then varied with heat treatment and no heat treatment. The heat treatment was carried out in an electric oven at a temperature of 387 ° C for 30 minutes, and the process was normalizing. The resultant addition is made of impact test material with ASTM E 23-05 standard and hardness testing with ASTM standard E 92-82.
The results showed that the heat treatment process caused the change of micro structure in the form of changing the size of zinc (Zn) which getting smaller (discontinuous) and distributed evenly on the aluminum matrix. This resulted in increased impact toughness in the form of impact price increase of 35.7% ie from 0.42 J / mm2 rose to 0.57 J / mm2. This also has an impact on the decrease of violence in the form of impairment value of 6.1% ie from 135,5 HVN down to 127,75 HVN.
