KETANGGUHAN RETAK CAMPURAN EPOXY VARIASI FILLER HYBRID (FLY ASH DAN CaCO3) PADA LINGKUNGAN KERING DAN BASAH DENGAN METODE BENDING
Keywords: epoxy, water absorption and fracture toughness.
Filler is widely used to improve the mechanical properties of epoxy which is used as an adhesive. Some fillers have advantages and disadvantages so that filler hybridization can reduce the deficiency of each filler. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in water absorption in various hybrid filler compositions (fly ash and CaCO3) in epoxy adhesive specimens and the effect of water absorption on the susceptibility of cracked epoxy adhesive specimens to different hybrid filler compositions (fly ash and CaCO3). The main ingredients of this study are fillers (fly ash and CaCO3), epoxy resins and epoxy hardener. The filler weight fraction is made constant 20% with a ratio (fly ash: CaCO3) (20%: 0%), (15%: 5%), (10%: 10%, (5%: 15%) and (0%: 20%) Tests carried out are tests of water absorption and fracture toughness. The results of this test showed that filler reduced water content compared to without filler by an average of 20.49%. While the crack toughness test variations in filler composition and dry, semi-saturated, and saturated conditions treatment affected crack toughness. Compared to the dry conditions, hybrid fill specimens when semi-saturated conditions fracture toughness values increase by an average of 36.41%, but in saturated conditions crack toughness decreases by an average of 37.40%.
