ANALISIS PENGARUH LEBAR GAP DAN PANJANG FLAP TERHADAP AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE PADA MODIFIKASI AIRFOIL NREL S809 MENGGUNAKAN ANSYS
The are several ways to increase the aerodynamic performance of an airfoil, one of
which is adding a section behind the airfoil which commonly called a flap. Flap functions to
control aerodynamic performance. The addition of a flap to an airfoil will create a gap beteen
the airfoil body and the flap, it will certainly afferct aerodynamic performance.The gap
between the flap and the body connects the upper surface and lower surface flow field, which
can increase pressure on the upper surface.
The object is to analyze the effect of slap length and gap width on aerodynamic
performance on modiefied NREL s809 airfoil using ANSYS. The study was carried out with
variations in the length of the flaps 15%C, 25%C, 35%C with variations in the width of the
gaps 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm, with flap deflections -5

The result showed that the width of the gap affects aerodynamic performance, where

Meanwhile, the optimal length of the flap is at 15%C on the deflection of the flap (5 o
