PERILAKU LENTUR PANEL KOMPOSIT SANDWICH DENGAN VARIASI MODEL CORE KAYU SENGON DAN SKIN ALUMINIUM
The utilization of Sengon wood as core and aluminum as skin for composite sandwich is to get a strong
and light composite materials. It aims to maximize the use of wood that has a low strength as a structural
material. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of Sengon wood core variation composite
sandwich against bending test. In this research, a preliminary test was conducted to determine the
properties of the material characteristics. Preliminary test includes testing of physical and mechanical
properties of Sengon wood. The next process is the bending test for each variation core model of
composite sandwich. Variations cores are specimens Sandwich Core Type A (SCA), the specimen
Sandwich Core Type B (SCB), Type C specimens Sandwich Core (SCC), and control specimens Sengon
Wood (CTR). Experimentally testing method which is used to determine the flexural strength is Three
Point Bending. The standard test that used is ASTM C393-00. Flexural strength test results for specimens
SCA, SCB, SCC, and CTR are respectively 177 391 MPa, 153 913 MPa, 79 101 MPa, and 29 326 MPa.
The increase in the flexural strength of composite sandwich specimens SCA, SCB, and SCC of the
specimens respectively CTR 504 893% 424 835%, dan169.730%.
