PENAMBAHAN KONSENTRATOR PADA TURBIN ANGIN POROS VERTIKAL TIPE SAVONIUS
Savonius is one type of vertical axis wind turbines that operate at low wind speeds. This type of wind turbine shortage is having a low efficiency because of the drag force. To reduce drag force, it needs to be added to a concentrator. Concentrator can direct the flow of the wind that will crash into the rotating vanes bar with the opposite direction to the direction of flow of the wind.
In this research the ratio of concentrator varies by 1: 1, 1: 1: 1/2, 1/3, 1: 1/6, on wind speed 2,39 m/s, 3,43 m/s, 4,22 m/s, 4,75 m/s, 4,96 m/s. This research was conducted on two blade savonius wind turbine.
The results show that the highest rotation of 170,07 rpm, torque largest of 0,357 Nm, this value is obtained on a wind turbine with a ratio concentrator of 1:/6 with wind speeds of 4,96 m/s. Coefficient performance rotor maximum obtainable of 0,111 on wind turbine with a concetrator ratio of 1: 1/6 at wind speeds of 4.75 m/s. It can be concluded that by adding concentrator drag from turbines can be reduced. The larger the ratio of concentrator to result in increasingly the higher rotation, tip speed ratio, power, torque and coefficient performance of the rotor generated.
