PENGARUH VARIASI BUKAAN KATUP TERHADAP KONSUMSI BAHAN BAKAR DAN EMISI GAS BUANG YANG DIHASILKAN PADA MESIN BENSIN 4 LANGKAH 1 SILINDER HONDA SUPRA 100 CC
Exhaust emission contains some substances that harmful human’s life. On the other
hand, the fossil fuel resource is deflating dramatically. This phenomenon drives many
efforts to maintain and reserve the fuel resources and reduce the harmful exhaust emission
from the vehicles. This research aims to investigate the influences of duration of camshaft to
the exhaust gas emission and fuel consumption of an engine.
The camshaft durations investigated are 210°, 280° and 330° in a single cylinder
motorcycle engine to the exhaust emission. The engine speeds are 1500, 3000, 4500 and
6000 rpm. The exhaust emission and fuel consumption is taken at all the level of
transmission.
The result shows that the higher camshaft duration increases the exhaust gas emission
HC and fuel consumption of the engine. However, the CO emission reduces. The highest fuel
consumption is achieved at 330° camshaft duration and 6000 rpm (0.97 l/h). The highest HC
emission is 989.67 ppm at 330° camshaft duration. However the highest CO emission is
coming out from the engine which is running at 210° cam shaft duration (3.74 % v)
