KETANGGUHAN IMPACT DAN KEKUATAN BENDING DARI KOMPOSIT POLYESTER YANG DIPERKUAT SERAT DAUN NANAS DENGAN FILLER SERBUK TEMPURUNG KELAPA
Composite is a combination of two or more materials which are arranged in a certain way to get new properties on the material results. Making the polyester composite reinforced pineapple-leaf fibers with coconut shell powder filler is one way to get new material properties. This study aims to determine the nature of the bending strength and impact toughness of reinforced polyester composites pineapple-leaf fiber with filler coconut shell powder.
Making the composite is done by molding methods. Materials used in the manufacture of this composite is pineapple-leaf fibers with filler coconut shell powder. Tests were carried out based on ASTM D256 for impact testing, the methods used in impact testing is charpy method and ASTM D790 standards for bending test. To determine the significance of variations influence on fiber volume fraction and fiber length isused Two Ways Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) with the variation of fiber length of 1 cm, 3 cm, 5 cm and variations in fiber volume fraction of 15%, 30% and 45% with random direction of fiber.
From the results of testing the impact toughness and bending strength of pineapple leaf fiber composites can be concluded that the increasing length of fiber volume fraction and then the value of the impact toughness and bending strength increases. On testing the impact toughness high of 2338.397 J / m2 at 5cm long fibers with fiber volume fraction of 45% and the lowest impact toughness value that is equal to 538.18 J / m2 on a fiber length of 1 cm with a fiber volume fraction of 15%. While testing the bending obtained the highest bending strength of 31.139 MPa at 5 cm long fibers with fiber volume fraction of 45%. And bending strength low of 18,767 MPa at 1cm long fiber fractions volume serat 15%. By using Two Ways Analysis Of Variance for impact testing and bending it can be concluded that the fiber length and volume fraction had a significant influence on the value of the impact toughness and bending strength while the interaction between fiber length and volume fraction significantly affect impact toughness, but will not significantly affect the bending strength.
