PENGARUH IGNITION TIMING DAN PUTARAN MESIN TERHADAP EMISI GAS BUANG MOTOR BENSIN 4 LANGKAH SATU SILINDER 100 CC BERBAHAN BAKAR ETANOL 96% DAN RASIO KOMPRESI 11:1
Exhaust emissions by motor vehicle is an pollution very harmful to the environment and to health. The availability of fossil fuels is also dwindling, so we need new alternatives to replace. Ethanol is an alternative that can be used. Ethanol can be obtained from the fermentation of agricultural products that contain carbohydrates. On this research aims to find the effect of variations in the ignition timing on fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions (CO, HC, and CO2).
In this research, using a gasoline engine four stroke single cylinder Honda Astrea Legenda 100 cc by varying the ignition timing ( 15o , 20o and 25o ) and rotation engine (1500 , 2500 , 3500 , 4500 , and 6000 rpm ) at level transmission ( N , 1 , 2 , 3 , and 4 ) using fuel ethanol 96%.
The results of this research show in use of fuel ethanol 96 % at 20° before TDC ignition occurs reductions in fuel consumption and exhaust emissions such as CO , HC and increase the levels of CO2 emissions compared to other ignition. Fuel consumption value is lowest in the ignition 20º before TDC at the engine speed 1500 rpm at level 4 transmission that is 0.1 kg/hour, the lowest CO value is 0.17 % volume at 6000 rpm rotation with transmission at level 4, the lowest HC value is 57 , 67 ppm at 6000 rpm rotation with transmission at level 4 and the highest CO2 value is 13.86 % volume at 6000 rpm rotation with transmission level 4.
