ANALISA PENGARUH PANJANG SERAT BAMBU TERHADAP KEKUATAN TEKAN DAN KEKUATAN BENDING PADA MATERIAL KOMPOSIT SANDWICH DENGAN INTI FOAM BAMBU
The use of environmentally friendly materials , is able to be recycled and able destroyed itself by nature is a requirement of today's technology. The advantages of composite sandwich is lightweight but has high rigidity which consists of core of honeycomb or foam with a very low density and the skin is thin and stiff. This study aims to determine the density , compressive strength edge , the compressive strength and the thickness direction of the bending strength of the composite material foam core sandwich with bamboo.
In this study , the length of bamboo fiber is used as the foam core of bamboo is 10 mm , 20 mm , 30 mm , and 40 mm with a fiber volume fraction of 15% by weight. Tests performed is test density refers ASTM C - 271 standard , the test press the edges according to ASTM C364-99 , thickness direction of the pressure test according to ASTM C365-05 and bending test which refers to the standard ASTM C – 392.
The results showed that the composite density foam core sandwich with bamboo obtained reaches 0,45 gr / cmᶾ. The compressive strength of the composite sandwich edge tends to increase with increasing length of the fiber . The compressive strength of the composite sandwich edges are on the variation of fiber length of 30 mm, which reaches 7,14 N / mm² . While the fiber length variation showed no significant effect on the compressive strength of the composite sandwich thickness direction. However , the compressive strength shown in the thickness direction of the largest fiber length of 10 mm , which reached 21,95 N / mm². Sandwich composites bending strength tends to increase with increasing length of fiber. The highest bending strength contained in the variation of fiber length of 30 mm , reaching 23,71N/mm² .
