KEKUATAN BENDING DAN KETANGGUHAN IMPACT KOMPOSIT SERAT PANDAN WANGI DENGAN VARIASI FRAKSI VOLUME SERAT PANDAN WANGI DAN FILLER SERBUK KAYU JATI
Composite is a combination of two or more materials which are arranged in a certain way to get new properties on the material result. Making the polyester composite reinforced pandanus Ammaryllifolius fiber with tectona grandits filler is one way to get new materials properties. This study aims to determine the nature of the bending strength and impact toughness of composites pandanus ammaryllifolius fiber with filler tectona grandits powder. Making composite is done by hand lay-up methods. Material used in the manufacture of this composite is pandanus ammaryllifolius fiber and filler tectona grandits powder with a volume fraction fiber 3,6%, 7,2%, 10,8% and volume fraction filler tectona grandits is added at 5%, 10%, and 15%, while the fiber length constant 30 mm. Test were carried out based on ASTM D790 standards for bending test and ASTM D256 for impact testing, the methods used in impact testing is charpy method. From the results of this study can be concluded that the variations fiber volume fraction and filler volume fraction significant effect on the value of bending strength and impact toughness. In the bending test obtained the highest bending strength on the composite fiber pandanus ammaryllifolius volume fraction 10,8% with filler fraction 15% of 29,90 Mpa, while the value of the highest impact toughness on the composite fiber pandanus ammaryllifolius volume fraction 10,8% with filler fraction 15% of 1592,5 Joule/m2.
