Pengaruh Jari-Jari Fillet Terhadap Kekuatan Bending Gading-Gading Perahu Effect of Fillet Radius Bending Strength of Joist Boats
In general, the boats in Indonesia are mostly made of wood. This is done because the
wood is considered as the boats maker economical material and workmanship need a lot of
manpower. The construction material for the boat needed a lightweight material similar to wood
or lighter than at wood but still strong and rigid. Joist is the framework or ship construction
transversely amplifier and a place of attachment of the skin or the shape of the ship hull that
does not change. This research aims to determine the effect joist fillet radius boat of composite
sandwich against bending strength.
This research material waste paper buffalo, liquid polyurethane, polyester, and
fiberglass. Waste paper used for making material buffalo square cells as the honeycomb core.
Length of honeycomb cells that is 20 mm with radius fillet varied (160 mm, 200 mm and 240
mm). Furthermore honeycomb toughened using a liquid of polyester. And then liquid
polyurethane casting process is carried out on all the honeycomb cells. Sandwich composite joist
the boats was created using hand lay up. This experiment is testing the bending strength
Results from the study showed that the highest bending strength ie the variation fillet
radius of 240 mm of 64.917 MPa, while the bending strength of the lowest in the variation fillet
radius of 160 mm of 45.128 Mpa. The longer size of joist fillet radius boat, then the higher
bending strength.
