PENGARUH VARIASI JENIS SERAT DAN FRAKSI VOLUME SERAT DENGAN FILLER SERBUK GERGAJI KAYU SENGON DAN MATRIK POLYESTER TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIS MATERIAL KOMPOSIT
Some plants are generally only used the fruit, so sometimes the rest of the plant becomes an obstacle when in large quantities. But has traditionally been used for other purposes. Some of them are pineapple leaves are used to make ropes and textiles, banana as fodder, and coconut fibers are used for fuel.
This study uses pineapple leaf fiber, banana fiber and coconut coir fiber as the fiber types with a variety of fiber volume fraction of 20%, 30% and 40%. Polyester matrix with filler sengon wood sawdust is used as the bond between the fibers. Bending testing with ASTM D790-02 and the tensile test with JIS Z2201 performed for mechanical testing.
The test results showed that the highest tensile strength and bending occurs at the Coconut Coir fiber with fiber volume fraction of 40% which is 33.34 N/mm2 and 27.69 N/mm2. The lowest bending and tensile strength get in Banana fiber with a volume fraction of 20% which is 17.21 N/mm2 and 17.64 N/mm2. With a 2-way analysis of variance showed that the type of fiber and the volume fraction affect the mechanical strength of the composite
