ANALISA UJI TARIK PADA PEMBUATAN PLAT KOMPOSIT SERAT FIBER DENGAN METODE VACUUM ASSISTED RESIN INFUSION (VARI)
Composite is a material engineering technology has many developed, because the composite material able to combine some characteristics of different material properties into something new as planned. Composite manufacturing using VARI processes can reduce the effects of fouling on a non-vacuum process leading to less than optimal properties of composite materials.
In this research, using a spiral inlet and the inlet tube to the inlet variations, and compare the tensile strength of the composite by VARI method and hand lay-up method. Manufacture of the tensile test specimens using ASTM standard D3039.
Variations inlet at the VARI methods will affect the rate of resin distribution, as well as resin bonding with fiber thus affecting the value of fiber volume fraction, matrix volume fraction, void volume fraction and the tensile strength of the composite. The maximum tensile stress value fo the VARI method amounted to 352,1720 Mpa and tensile stress value comparison method (hand lay-up) amounted to 287,8736 Mpa, where the tensile stress is the highest average in the first variation of the VARI process with the average value reached 344,5691 MPa, the second variation with 322,4166 MPa and a third variation of 300,9673MPa, whereas the method (hand lay-up) has the lowest average is equal to 270,3732 Mpa. After fracture tensile test specimens of VARI method, fibers bonded with a matrix is still very good, the distance between the fibers sufficiently tight, and a pull-out of the fiber is not so much going, while in the hand lay-up method a lot going on the pull-out of the fiber thereby reducing the mechanical strength of the composite.
