ANALISIS KEKERASAN DAN STRUKTUR MIKRO BAJA PADUAN RENDAH PADA PROSES PACK CARBURIZING DENGAN MEDIA CARBURIZER SERBUK ARANG TEMPURUNG KELAPA DAN SERBUK CANGKANG KERANG DARAH
Carburizing process is a thermo-chemical process which is done by heating the specimen at the austenit temperature in the chamber which containing carbon powder. Carburizing aims to raise the level of carbon in the surface layer of steel to obtain steel with hard surfaces. This study aimed to determine the effect of coconut shell charcoal powder with blood clam shell powder and the duration of detention in pack carburizing process on physical properties (struktuk micro) and mechanical (hardness) low alloy steel after being treated.
The materials used in this study was low alloy steel which is cylindrical. The process of making specimens was performed by cutting into sections, the cutting is done for ease in placing the specimen in the box carburizing, then powdered coconut shell charcoal and pollen shells blood weighted according to the desired composition by mixing powder clam shell blood 20, 30 and 40 (% by weight). Specimens carried out heat treatment at a temperature of 950 C with the detention time for 4, 5 and 6 hours. Then do the Vickers hardness test and microstructure testing.
From the results of hardness testing low alloy steels after undergoing a process of pack carburizing with media carburizer powder coconut shell charcoal and pollen shells of blood showed that the increasing variation of the powder mixture shells blood 20%, 30% and the duration of detention of the value of its hardness increases, but to 40% of the variation of blood clam shell powder mixture decreased violence. In hardness testing a high of 289.48 kg / mm2 obtained in a mixture of I (80% + 20%) with a retention time of 6 hours long and the lowest hardness value of 247.80 kg / mm2 obtained in a mixture of I (80% + 20% ) with long retention time of 4 hours. By using Two Ways Analysis Of Variance for hardness testing Vikers it can be concluded that variations in mix and long holding time has a significant influence on the hardness value. While the interaction between variations in the mixture and the duration of detention significant effect.
