PENGARUH PERLAKUAN SERAT TAPIS KELAPA SEBAGAI PENGUAT KOMPOSIT SERAT DENGAN FILLER TEMPURUNG KELAPA BERMATRIK RESIN POLYESTER TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK
Composites is an engineering material which is made from combination of two or more different materials into a new material with new properties. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of treatment of soaking and the concentration of NaOH tensile strength fiber resin polyester composites with filler coconut shell powder.
The testing of tensile strength is based on ASTM D 3039 standard. It has dimension 6 mm in thick, 25 mm in width and 240 mm in length. The composites are made by using compaction method the composition fiber of 40% (% by weight) with a ratio of filler with the matrix 10, with a variety of dipping time of 1.5 hours, 2 hours, 2.5 hours and variations in concentration of NaOH 3%, 5%, 7%, the fiber used coconut fiber filter is in the form of woven natural fibers.
The results shows that the variation of soaking no significant effect on the value of tensile strength. While variations concentration of NaOH significant effect on tensile strength. In the tensile test obtained the highest tensile strength of 22,93 MPa at 2,5 hours soaking time variations and variations of NaOH 3%, while the value of the lowest tensile strength of 12,07 MPa at 1,5 hours soaking time variation and variation of 7% NaOH.
