PENGARUH VARIASI KECEPATAN DAN TEMPERATUR UDARA TERHADAP WAKTU PENGERINGAN GABAH MENGGUNAKAN ALAT TERFLUIDISASI
Drying grain is a procces to reduce water contents with the aim of increasing the quality of rice.
There are two methods of dring processe: natural (traditional) and artificial drying
methods.Hower, the traditional drying method has several weaknesses i.e esaly contaminated,
difficient to control, a large place, a long time. To overcome those weaknesses, an artificial
drying apparatus such as a fluidized bed is needed. The fluidized bed drying process is chosen
because it can result in a good quality of the product, and it can be operated night and day as
well as it is easy to be controlled.
The purpose of this research is to know the influence of air velocity and air temperature
on the drying time. The variations of the air velocity used are 3 m/s, 4 m/s, 5 m/s and the drying
temperature variations used are 40oC, 45oC, 50oC.
The result shows that the fastest drying time to reach the maximum moisture content of
14% at the initial moisture content 22 ± 0.5% is achieved at the velocity of 5 m/s and air
temperature of 50oC. Hence it can be concluded that the best drying process is abtained at
500C and 5 m/s resvectively.
