PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN UNSUR MAGNESIUM TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK PADA PENGECORAN PADUAN ALUMINIUM (Piston Bekas)
The problem in this research is how the changes in the mechanical properties of alumunium alloy piston-based scrap a result of addition of the element magnesium. The purpose of this study was to know the effect the addition of magnesium element on mechanical properties of alumunium alloy piston-based scrap and increase return the mechanical properties (Hardness) of alumunium alloy piston-based scrap. The method used is a lab experiments. The materials used are alumunium alloy piston-based scrap and the element magnesium. Al-Si alloys (scrap piston) and the element Mg was added to the furnace to be dissolved according to the composition, after the second material is smelted and then stirred for 1 minute to be homogeneous. The resulting mixture was poured into the mold, then the formation of speciment. The result showed that the addition of Mg elements effect the result castings (a) The addition of the elements Mg hardness values of 0% by weight is 83.08 Kg/mm2, 5% by weight is 94.40 Kg/mm2, 10% by weight is 98.78 Kg/mm2, 15% by weight is 106.52 Kg/mm2, (b) Impact value addition of the elements Mg 0% by weight is 0.026 J/mm2, 5% by weight is 0.021 J/mm2, 10% by weight is 0.019 J/mm2, 15% by weight is 0.016 J/mm2. The conclusion of this study is the hardness value increases with the element magnesium. But inversely propotional to the value of the test result impact declining with increasing elements of magnesium and (hardness) of the result of the former foundry alumunium piston with the addition of magnesium element of the better.
