ANALISA NILAI LAJU KEAUSAN HASIL PELAPISAN NIKEL-KROM DENGAN VARIASI TEGANGAN LISTRIK & pH LARUTAN PADA ELEKTROPLATING BAJA KARBON RENDAH ST-37
Electroplating process is a method of coating metal by providing a harder layer on the base metal surface, so that the direct contact between the surface of machining components that rub against each other increases the wear resistance. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of voltage and pH of electroplating solution on thickness and wear of electroplating result on ST-37 low carbon steel. Stages of electroplating process starts from specimen cutting, mechanical cleaning, after the specimens are clean, then weighing before electroplating process to get the weight before electroplating. After that proceed with the electroplating process with a distance of 10 cm, and time 8 minutes. After electroplating at each variation, weighing to know the weight gain of electroplating result. After that done a microscope to compare the results of thecalculation thickness with the thickness of the photo micro. Finally a wear test is used to determine the wear resistance of the material, by means of the specimen weighed before and after the wear test. It can be concluded that nickel-chrome plating with variations of electric voltage and pH of the solution affects the coating thickness and wear. The results of the maximum thickness calculation, and the results of wear-resistant test occurred on the variation of voltage 8 volt and pH 4 of 7.8705μm, the wear of 3.2986 x10-6 g / cm2.second.
