In the industrial world, heat exchangers have an important role in helping the production process, especially in PT. Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara. This is because in operation the heat exchange device serves to cool the lubricant on the bearings in the Ball Mill. Heat exchangers (shell and tube type) greatly affect the overall success of the series of processes, because the failure of operations caused by mechanical or operational failure can lead to the cessation of unit operations. In this study do a comparison between the design specifications with the results of observations in the field in the morning and evening. 14 day observations were analyzed using heat transfer to determine the heat transfer coefficient, LMTD, decrease in performance due to fouling factor and effectiveness of heat exchanger. From the results of research shows that the heat exchange tool in the morning has a better performance compared to the afternoon. This is evident from the heat transfer coefficient, LMTD and its high effectiveness in the morning. However, heat exchangers have impurities from cooling water quality and poor water flow causing a decrease in performance in heat exchangers.
