Pengaruh Fraksi Volume Filler Fly Ash (abu pembakaran batu bara) Terhadap Sifat Mekanik Komposit Serat Bambu Bermatriks Resin Polyester dengan Campuran Styrofoam Sebagai Modifikasinya.
One of the materials used for the basic material for making composites is natural fiber. Natural fiber is a part of plants that is easily found in nature. One of the natural fibers that can be used is bamboo. Bamboo is very easy to grow and has good mechanical properties. As material and material science increases, bamboo fiber is now being used as a composite mixing material. Bamboo fibers need to be treated with a surface to produce a good bond with the matrix. The filler used is fly ash. The content of this fly ash is carbon, besides that, fly ash is used as a mixture of cement and asphalt. If the ash from the combustion is not used, it will become an environmental problem that can pollute because it is a waste. The goal to be achieved is to determine the mechanical properties of the heavy fraction of fly ash fillers in bamboo fiber composites with the addition of styrofoam as a modification. To achieve this goal is done by making composite specimens with a volume fraction of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% fly ash fillers at a volume fraction of 20% and 30%. The matrix used is unsaturated polyester resin modified with styrofoam as much as 1%. Bamboo fiber was treated with fiber with 8% NaOH solution for 2 hours. The process of making composites by hand layup with molds made of steel plates and pressed with a press with fiber direction is random. The tests performed are tensile, bending and impact. The results showed that the tensile strength test at a
