PENGARUH FRAKSI VOLUME FILLER CACO3 TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK DAN BENDING KOMPOSIT SERAT BAMBU/POLYESTER TAK JENUH DENGAN PENAMBAHAN STYROFOAM SEBAGAI MODIFIKASINYA
The use of bamboo fiber has not been too much of a public eye, especially the industrial owners, now bamboo fiber is being used as a composite mixing material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of CaCO3 filler volume fraction on tensile strength and bending of unsaturated polyester fiber composites that have been modified with Styrofoam.
To achieve this goal is done by making composite specimens from bamboo fiber with CaCO3 filler with a fiber volume fraction of 20% and 30% and a volume fraction of CaCO3 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. The purpose of using calcium carbonate as a filler is to increase the rigidity of polyester matrices. The matrix used was styrofoam-modified polyester resin. Bamboo fiber was treated with fiber with 8% NaOH solution for two hours. Composite manufacturing process is carried out by hand lay up and compression molding using molds made of steel plates and pressed with presses. The tests carried out are tensile and bending tests.
