Pengaruh fraksi volume filler terhadap kekuatan bending dan kekuatan tarik epoxy dalam keadaan basah
Epoxy is a thermoset synthetic product which is formed from two different chemicals, namely polyepoy resin reaction with hardener. In general, this type of epoxy material is widely used as a fiber composite matrix, adhesive and coating. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of filler volume fraction on water absorption capacity and mechanical strength (tensile strength and bending strength) The main ingredients of this research are filler (fly ash and cement), epoxy resin and epoxy hardener. The volume fraction varied by 5%, 15% and 25%. Composite making was done by mixing filler with epoxy matrix. Mixing is done using a modified mixer for 2 hours so that the mixture is even or homogeneous. This mixture is mixed again with resin hardener and stirred for 3-4 minutes. Then it is vacuumed for 25 minutes and the mixture is put into the prepared mold. After that, water absorption testing, tensile test (ASTM D638) and bending test (ASTM D790) were carried out. The results showed that the equilibrium water content from the highest to the lowest epoxy with cement filler 25%, cement 15%, cement 5%, fly ash 25%, fly ash 5% and fly ash 15% respectively 17.49% , 12.69%, 7.92%, 7.10, 7.10, 6.96. The mechanical properties of epoxy (elastic modulus, tensile strength and bending strength) decrease in wet conditions, but elongation when broken is increased due to more tenacity. In general, tensile strength and bending strength of specimens in dry and wet conditions tend to decrease with increasing filler volume fraction. Addition of the filler volume fraction to epoxy increases the tensile and bending modulus of elasticity
