Efek Faksi Volume dan Arah Serat Terhadap Sifat Mekanik Komposit Serat Kulit Jagung

The use of natural fibers as a base material and reinforcement in the manufacture of composite materials has become known in the world of industry and manufacturing. One of the natural fibers that can be used is corn husk fiber. One of the factors that supports the use of corn skin fibers as reinforcement of composite materials is that corn husk fibers are easily recycled and can decompose themselves. The use of environmentally friendly materials that can be recycled is a demand of current technology. Corn husk fibers are treated to add mechanical strength. In this study, composite specimens were made with fiber volume fractions of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% with random and woven fiber directions. Corn husk fibers were treated with 10% NaOH solution for 2 hours and evaporation treatment for 1 hour. The process of making composites by hand lay up with molds made of silicon and given a load of 35 kg. The test is done by testing tensile, bending and shooting using SEM (Scanning Electron Michroscopy) and using Two-Way ANOVA analysis to study the ease of tracking and volume fraction of fiber. The results showed that the highest strength in tensile testing was 24,274 MPa at a volume fraction of 10% with random fiber direction, and in the direction of woven fiber, the highest strength occurred in the volume fraction of 10% which was 20.375 Mpa. In testing the bending strength with the direction of the random fiber produced the highest strength of 44,084 MPa in the volume fraction of 5%, and in the direction of the woven fiber, the highest strength occurred in the volume fraction of 5% which amounted to 46,946 MPa. In the two-way ANOVA analysis, results were obtained Fhitung (0,62466) < Ftabel (10,12796) for fiber direction and Fhitung (1,62466) < Ftabel (9,276628) for fiber volume fraction in tensile strength. At bending strength, Fhitung (5,750376) < Ftabel (10,12796) for fiber direction and Fhitung (2,661531) < Ftabel (9,276628) for fiber volume fraction. So that H0 is accepted, namely the orientation and fraction of the volume of fiber does not affect the tensile and bending strength because of the value Fhitung < Ftabel. After
