Bioetanol dari nira batang sorgum dengan memvariasikan starter pada proses fermentasi untuk meningkatkan kadar alcohol yang dihasilkan
The energy crisis and the need for environmentally friendly energy souces are a serious problem in the world today. The energy crisis is caused by the large consumption and dependence of human on fossil fuels such as petroleum (about 47 %), coal (around 27 %) adn gas (about 20 %). Bioethanol is one the alternative that is widly devolved and is expected to be able to reduce the us of energy derived from fosil fuel. This study aims to determine the effect of starter variations as independent variables on alcohol content, alcohol volume, specific grafhity, calorific value and flash and fire points as dependent variables. In this study, fermentation of 3 liters of sorghum sap was carried out using a starter with a parcentage of 1 %, 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 % and without treatment. In this study the highest alcohol content was obtained by fermentation using the percentage of 10 % starter eith 63 % alcohol content, specific grafhity at 0.824, calorific value of 12158.704 J/g, flash point temperature 32°C and fire point temperature 34°C. The heighes volume obtained in fermentation uses the percentage of starter 20 %. Specific grafhity is inversely proportional to alcohol content and calorific value, but is directly proportional to the value of flash and fire point
