PENGARUH PERLAKUAN ALKALI TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK DAN MORPOLOGI SERAT DARI KULIT TEBU DAN SERAT KULIT WARU
Research aims to analyze the effect of surface treatment on mechanical properties and physical properties the fibers of skin cane and hibiscus bark fibers. This study begins by providing the treatment with NaOH and KOH concentration of 8% respectively and soaking for 2 hours. The results showed that the highest tensile strength cane fibers contained in the fiber without treatment with value 538,998 MPa, alkali solution of NaOH 8% and 8% KOH influence not on the mechanical properties of skin fibers cane. The results of research on hibiscus bark fibers show a tensile strength highest in fiber without treatment with value 749,923 MPa. Where the results of a Scanning Electron Microscopy SEM examination showed that changes in the shape and characteristics of the fiber surface looks rougher after a given treatment alkali KOH and NaOH 8%. FTIR analysis results show the presence of chemical compounds with the formation of functional groups that are known through the frequency of absorption waves fibers of skin cane and hibiscus bark fibers
