Along with the development of the manufacturing industry, the use of composite materials that are environtmentally friendly and can be recycled is a demand of current technology. Then, efforts need to be made with the use of natural fiber reinforced composite material which is one of the composite materials that can be expected in the industrial area. By utilizing palm leaf fiber, it will be made as a reinforcement of the skin on a composite sandwich specimen in the form of a seam so that the mechanical strength of the palm is expected to affect the mechanical strength of the sandwich composite. This study aims to determine the value of shear strength in sandwich composite with variation of distance of palm midrib fiber seams to the composite mechanical properties of polyester resin sandwich. This study using palm leaf fiber as a reinforcement of the skin in composite sandwich specimen with variation distance between fiber seams used 6 mm, 10 mm and 14 mm with an average diameter of midrib 0.4 mm. For the skin used fiberglass with woven fiber in the form of a sliding test specimen measuring 300 mm x 60 mm. The results showed that the shear strength of sandwich composites tended to increase with the density of inter-seam distances, the strongest shear strength of 165.02 kPa at a stitch distance of 6mm and the weakest stress at 98.19 kPa at a seam distance of 14 mm
