Peran lean manufacturing dalam menemukan bottleneck dalam proses produksi pada lini produksi blade ring – studi kasus pada PT. Barata Indonesia
Even in a company that has implemented Lean Manufacturing, it cannot avoid problems therein. One of the problems is that the production process is experiencing bottlenecks, causing production flow to be hampered so that production cannot meet customer demand. To find bottlenecks, time study can be done indirectly to speed up the calculation of cycle time only to find the cause of bottlenecking, time study must be done directly and then the results of time study would be processed into an SMED analysis making it easier to find wastes in said process. To determine whether the production process is bottlenecked or not, a standard time per cycle is needed, therefore takt time is sought and used as a standard time per cycle. The results of the time study found that the cause of the bottleneck was in the turning process and after a direct time study and SMED analysis it was found that there were 45 minutes of time that could be saved in one turning stage by eliminating any works that are classified into the waste category and then doing a parallel process if available. After that, a simulation is carried out on how much time can be saved in the whole process. It was found from the simulation results that further improvements are still needed to be able to eliminate bottleneck in the turning process.
