Pengaruh Nilai Brix dalam Pembuatan Bioetanol dari Nira Batang Sorgum menggunakan Ragi Turbo Yeast Influence of brix value in the manufacture of bioethanol from the sorghum nira steam using turbo yeast
Fuel oil used today is a fuel made of fossil fuels, which is where the fossil fuel is an unrenewable fuel. Now this need for fuel oil use is increasing, therefore, to meet these needs developed an alternative fuel that can be renewed. This alternative energy can be produced by plants that contain sugar. One of these plants is a sorghum plant. This research aims to determine the influence of brix variation on bioethanol production (bioethanol volume, bioethanol content, calor value, specific gravity, and flash and fire point). The sample volume used is 14 liters for each sample, from each sample taken 10% of the total sample to make the starter to be mixed with yeast as much as 10 grams/liter, NPK as much as 0,6 grams/liter, and urea as much as 0,5 grams/liter. The process of making this starter is carried out in an aerob. The bioethanol making of the sorghum stem nira is done by fermentation process, where the fermentation process is done for 5 days in anaerobic state and the yeast used to ferment sugar into bioethanol is turbo yeast. From the results of the study obtained the highest bioethanol content of 81% on brix 20% and the lowest bioethanol content of 70% at brix 16%, the highest pure bioethanol volume of 696,6 ml at brix 20% and the lowest pure bioethanol volume of 666 ml at brix 18%, The highest pH value of 5,69 at brix 16% and the lowest pH value of 5,58 at brix 20%, the specific gravity highest of 0,8072 at brix 16% and the lowest specific gravity value of 0.7577 at brix 20%, the highest calor value of 19236,3584 J/gram at brix 20% and the lowest heat value of 15781,2112 J/gram at brix 16%, and the highest flash and fire point value of 32 ᴼC at brix 16% and the lowest flash and fire point value of 30 ᴼC on brix 20%.
