PENGUJIAN PERFORMANSI ALAT PENGERING BIJI COKLAT TENAGA SURYA MENGGUNAKAN PERPINDAHAN PANAS KONVEKSI PAKSA DAN PERPINDAHAN PANAS KONVEKSI ALAMI
The utilization of solar thermal energy is very important in Indonesia because it is a tropical climate. Most community activities utilize heat energy derived from sunlight to support their activities. solar dryer is a device made for the process of drying foodstuffs, with the aim to speed up the drying process without reducing the quality of the dried plantation / agricultural products. The method used in this study is an experimental method with two variations of heat transfer, natural convection and forced convection. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of drying rate and efficiency of solar dryers using variations in forced convection heat transfer and natural convection heat transfer. The results showed variations in natural convection heat transfer were able to reach a maximum drying rate of 0.0328 g/s, while the variation in forced convection heat transfer reaches a maximum drying rate of 0.0500 g/s. Maximum tool efficiency in the drying process using natural convection methods reaches 38%, while the maximum tool efficiency of drying forced convection method reaches 51.9%. Based on the results obtained that the process of drying the forced convection method has a drying rate and tool efficiency greater than the drying process of the natural convection method.
