PENGARUH JAHITAN SERAT ALAMI TERHADAP KEKUATAN GESER KOMPOSIT SANDWICH
Composite is a combination of several different materials, arranged to form new materials that are better than the nature of the arrangement. Composites are distinguished by their shape, which is in the form of particles, fibers and a combination of particle and fiber shapes. Sandwich composites are formed from two rigid skins and separated by a core and bound by an adhesive. The main ingredients of this research are natural fibers (palm fiber, pineapple fiber and banana fiber), polyurethane cores, fiberglass and adhesives. Specimens are made manually (hand lay up). Dimensions of specimens are 300 mm long, 60 mm wide and 25 mm thick. shear testing is carried out using a type tensile testing machine (RTG-1310) with reference to the ASTM C273 standard. Shear test results from three repetitions of each specimen showed that the shear strength of the composite fibers of palm fiber, pineapple fiber and banana fiber amounted to 112.39 kPa, 103.37 kPa and 92.82 kPa. The value of the shear load composite fiber reinforced sandwich from pineapple, fibers and bananas is 2089.16 N, 2050.2 N and 1776.15 N with an additional length of 2.80 mm, 2.52 mm and 2.96 mm.
