PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN MOLASE TERHADAP KOMPOSISI GAS YANG DIHASILKAN DARI PROSES DIGESTIFIKASI KOTORAN SAPI
Biogas is a flammable gas produced from the fermentation process of organic materials by
anaerobic bacteria. The principle of making biogas is the decomposition of organic matter anaerobicly
(closed from free air). Biogas is important to develop as a substitute for fossil energy with cheaper,
oeasier and environmentally friendly renewable energy. This research aims to determine the effect of
the addition of molasses on cow manure to biogas production within 30 days of fermentation.
In this study, researchers analyzed the effect of molasses on the composition of gas and
resulted from the process of digestification of cow manure with the comparison of molasses and cow
manure 2:1, 1:2, 1:1 and compared the results of gas production with cow manure without the addition
of molasses.
The results of the 30-day study found that the most results obtained were nitrogen (N2) and
carbon dioxide gas (CO2), for nitrogen gas concentrations (N2) were in the range of 29.003% - 63.742%
and concentrations for carbon dioxide (CO2) in the range of 19.952%-38.951%. Oxygen (O2)
concentrations and methane (CH4) in substrates are almost non-existous because methane producing
bacteria cannot live due to the C/N ratio and acidity level in such a high rate in substrates.
