PENGARUH PERBANDINGAN KOMPOSIT HYBRID SERAT BAMBU-FIBERGLASS/POLYASTER TAK JENUH TERHADAP KEKUATAN BENDING DALAM KONDISI KERING DAN BASAH
Industries in the field of nonmetallic materials are have
currently been widely developed and researched, in order to
obtain appropriate new materials. One of the materials that is
currently widely developed is composite materials in the form of
natural fibers and synthesis fibers, which have the advantages
of light weight, corrosion resistance, economy, and insensitive
to chemicals. The potential of natural fibers and synthetic fibers
as composite materials continues to be developed and in
demand. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect
of the comparison of hybrid composites of bamboo fiberfiberglass / unsaturated polyasters on bending strength in dry
and wet conditions.
The method is carried out using bamboo fibers
measuring 5 mm, with random fiberglass measuring 30 cmx 30
cm with a configuration of FBFBFBF, BFBFBFB, 2F3B2F, 6F,
3B (F = Fiberglass, B = Bamboo) in dry and wet conditions,
using unsaturated polyester resin and made with vacuum
infusion molds. Bending specimens andtesting procedures refer
to the ASTM D790 standard.
The results of this study show that the bendingstrength
and elastic modulus of hybrid composites in dry conditions are
higher than in wet conditions. The bending strength and
modulus of hybrid composites with fiberglass in the outermost
layer provide higher values than other hybrid composites in both
dry and wet conditions
